"The holiday of Rosh Hashanah literally means “the first of the year”, and is referenced in scripture as Yom Ha-Zikkaron, Day of Remembrance, or Yom Teruah, Day of Sounding the Shofar, one of the three feasts the Lord established in Leviticus 23. A specific time of the year was consecrated for the Israelites to gather in sacred assembly, commemorated by the blowing of shofars; it was to be a time of Sabbath-rest during which no ordinary work was to be done and an offering was to be made by fire to the Lord.

In Jewish tradition, it is believed that, beginning on Rosh Hashanah, there is a ten-day period when God reviews the books of judgment and determines the fate of each person for the upcoming year. Teshuvah, or repentance, is the paramount for these ten days as it is believed to be a person’s last chance to repent before God closes his books and finalizes his judgment for the coming year.

As believers in Messiah, we understand that we have been redeemed and brought into salvation by grace. It is through His great sacrifice that He has given us access to the Father daily. So as we approach the celebration of this coming New Year, we call upon His grace to come cleanse and purify us. As we gather together commemorating Rosh Hashanah, in the spirit of the Tabernacle of David, we turn towards God, bringing up our firstfruits offering, consecrating ourselves, our families, and our nation once again to the rulership of our Lord."

Rita Springer

Rita Springer is one of the most gifted worship leaders to arise over the last ten years. Not only is she able to express herself beautifully through her poetic lyrics, but she delivers her message with a passion that is unlike any other. Springer also has the unique gift of improvising songs on stage at the piano. Her vocals are incredibly dynamic and are often compared to Melissa Etheridge and Jennifer Knapp.
